CESSMIR, the Centre for the Social Study of Migration and Refugees, at Ghent University, is looking for a job student to temporarily reinforce its team for the organisation of an international conference ‘Looking back, moving forward: migration studies in times of societal transformation’ from 14-16 September 2026. You would start to work max one day a week from February onwards, increasing it to two days a week in July, August and September (flexible arrangement). You would mainly be involved in communication and in organisational tasks (e.g. call dissemination, flyers and poster, communication with participants, speakers, venue and caterers).
We are looking for someone who…
- is good at communication in Dutch and English. Knowledge of other languages is a very nice plus
- is well-organised and is able to keep track of the many small tasks that are part of organising a conference
- is able to work independently, but in close connection with the organising committee
- ideally has some experience in visual editing, to make flyers, programs, etc.
- prior experience with the organisation of events and/or affinity with the migration and diversity field are a plus
- someone that is available one day a week from February onwards, and two to three days a week from July onwards.
