Charlotte De Kock, MA, PhD, is a researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Criminology of Ghent University. She teaches courses in qualitative research methods, critical criminology, and developed the course module ‘Diversity and Migration in Criminology’. Her research has focused for more than a decade on migration, with specific attention to access to healthcare and substance use services for this population. She has led several projects in this field (including PADUMI, SOCPREV and MATREMI), funded by FWO, BOF, Fedasil, Belspo and the European Drugs Agency (EUDA). Charlotte publishes regularly on these topics, aiming for both theoretical depth – on concepts such as equity and recovery – and impact on policy and practice. Since 2018, she has chaired the Diversity Committee of the Faculty of Law and Criminology, she is a board member of the European Xchange prevention platform (EMCDDA), and since 2024 she has been deputy member of the Board of Governors of Ghent University.
