MIGRATION RESEARCH IN PRACTICE

13 February 2026

9:00 am

5:00 pm

De Krook, Ghent

We are inviting you to join our annual ‘Migration research in Practice Day’ on the 13th of March.

Through this study day, CESSMIR aims to share its research findings in close collaboration with practitioners. The study day will therefore consist of presentations of research findings, followed by feedback from practitioners and interaction with the audience. We will focus on our annual topic: ‘Change, hope and activism’.

We will start the afternoon with a lecture by CESSMIR member Dr. Marlies Casier entitled ‘Van hulp bieden naar aanklagen: lessen uit het politieke werk van solidariteitsbewegingen met mensen op de vlucht’ (‘From offering help to accusing: lessons from the political work of solidarity movements with people on the run’). Afterwards, we will provide space for reflection and discussion in small groups. In the afternoon, a variety of duos consisting of researchers and non-academic partners will take the floor.

As you can see in the program below, the largest part of the day will be in Dutch. However, parallel sessions 1B, 2B and 3B, in which researchers and non-academic partners will present together, will be in English, so if you wish you can join just for those sessions. Do not forget to register!
